For a big, messy burger, head to Hodad’s. The original location in Ocean Beach has been around for over 45 years and is still serving its famous burgers to locals and visitors alike. If you’re not feeling burgers, you can get a slice of pizza and some frosty local brews from Pizza Port, or pick up a sandwich at Chris’ Liquor and Deli.

From tide pools and cliffside trails to scenic bike paths and fishing opportunities, there’s no end to relaxed activities. Newport Avenue offers plenty of bars for lovers of cocktails, but the street also happens to be home to the largest antiques district in San Diego. If you’re looking for gently used clothes or classic home décor, you should have no problem finding exactly what you need in one of the many antiques stores in the area.

Visit Thistle, which is housed in an old 1920s cottage, for an expansive collection of local crafts, bouquets, succulents, stationary, and more. If you’re in the mood for eco-friendly, nontoxic, and cruelty free cosmetics, head to The Holistic Science Company. This apothecary stocks shampoo, soaps, serums, and body oils that will keep you looking, feeling, and smelling your best.

Ocean Beach is also home to plenty of annual, seasonal events, from street fairs to chili cook-offs to kite festivals and beyond, ensuring that you always have something fun to do with the whole community.

Schools in Ocean Beach

Ocean Beach currently only has two schools, Warren-Walker School and Ocean Beach Elementary School. Warren-Walker is a private school that offers kindergarten through grade 8, while Ocean Beach Elementary serves kindergarten through the 4th grade.
